Christy South, MD

Dr. Christy South has been serving the Matanuska Valley since 2019. Her journey to Alaska has been quite a colorful one!

Originally from East Tennessee, she attended medical school at Quillen College of Medicine before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for an ob/gyn residency program. Upon completion of residency in 2007, she moved to Union City, TN where she joined a private practice for 2 years. Dr. South and her family were then drawn to southcentral Kentucky, where she ultimately opened her own practice in Glasgow. There she remained in private practice until her move to Alaska in 2019.

Dr. South is a board-certified OB/GYN and certified health coach. Her professional interests include a passion for minimally invasive surgery, particularly involving robotics and in office procedures. She enjoys both routine and high-risk obstetric care, infertility care, routine well-woman visits, menopause medicine and hormone therapy and treatments for urinary incontinence.

Married to her husband, Barry, since 1996, they grew their family with three children: Caleb, Thomas and Ellie (and several fur-babies as well). While in Kentucky, they owned a whitetail deer farm, managing both a trophy breeding program and hunting operation. In her free time, Dr. South enjoys knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, DIY projects, reading, gardening, hiking, fishing, paddleboarding and exercising. If not busy enough, she is looking to add scuba diving and piloting to that list!

Dr. South is honored to call Alaska her home and is excited to bring expert and compassionate care to women at First Choice OB/GYN.

Margaret Awadalla, PA-C

Margaret Awadalla, PA-C, earned her Master of Science in physician assistant studies from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Prior to her career as a physician associate, she spent six years in healthcare as a travel CT technologist. Throughout her clinical training, she discovered a strong passion for women’s health, with particular interests in contraception, menopause and hormone replacement therapy, in-office procedures, pre-conception counseling, gynecologic surgery, and both general and high-risk obstetrics.

Originally from the Midwest, Margaret recently relocated to the Mat-Su Valley with her husband and their two dogs. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys reading, hiking, and exploring Alaska’s natural beauty, and is excited to embrace winter sports in the seasons ahead.

Danielle Bourgeois

She brings a strong foundation in healthcare administration, combining her education and hands-on experience to support high-quality women’s health services. Outside of work, Danielle values faith, family, and community. She enjoys creating a warm and welcoming home, spending time with her husband and children, and hiking in Alaska’s beautiful outdoors. Her personal values of compassion, integrity, and stewardship are reflected in both her life and her work.

Kendall Boylan

Kendall Boylan has been a registered nurse for eight years, with a total of 12 years in the medical field. She began her career as a medical assistant, specializing in pediatrics. After the birth of her first child in 2021, her personal experience with pregnancy and postpartum care shifted her passion toward obstetrics and gynecology. Her professional experience in the OB/GYN field, combined with her personal journey, has fueled her enthusiasm for the future. She looks forward to assisting patients through every stage of their healthcare journey.

In her time off, Kendall cherishes spending time with her husband and children, exploring the Alaskan wilderness on their side-by-side, snow machines, and camping. Embracing all that Alaska has to offer is how her family bonds and creates lasting memories.

Ciera Parker

Ciera is an OB/GYN certified sonographer, deeply committed to women’s health. Originally from Alaska, she relocated to Idaho to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduating, she returned to fulfill her dream of becoming a sonographer and to serve in the community she calls home. Her dedication to OB/GYN stems from her desire to create a comfortable environment during these important moments of care. Ciera emphasizes patient education during appointments, ensuring that you feel involved in your care and have a welcoming space to ask questions and express yourself.

When she’s not at work, you can find her enjoying time on the lake or on the golf course, making the most of our beautiful state. We are thrilled and grateful to be a part of your care!

This transformative experience ignited her passion for the OB/GYN field. She is excited to bring this unique understanding and empathy to her role, supporting women through this pivotal time in their lives and in all the years that follow.

Having grown up in the Mat-Su Valley, Jackie and her family share a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Outside of work, she, her husband, Larry, and their children can often be found snowmachining, riding their side-by-side, or enjoying a road trip. They especially love their annual summer road trip to Idaho to enjoy the hot weather and waterparks.
